First draw a base from which leg will start. This is the top half and is called hips. Two columns are to be drawn at the bottom of these hips. The space difference between two columns should be at least one centimeter.
Now we are coming to the main joint of legs which are called knees. Draw a half circle to depict the knee.
From the knee again draw a column which will initially be wide and will be wider more at the center tapering towards the end. This is the ankle part that you will have to draw along with the feet.
Sketch the inner thighs and you make sure that shaping is properly contoured.
Lastly, you have to sketch out the feet with toes and ankles. After completing this, add few details in the knees to give it a real look.
The shape of the legs in your sketch should be according to the position of the figure. It may be in different positions like sitting, running, crawling, jumping etc. according to the requirement of the sketch.
The legs of different sizes and shapes depend on the characters in the sketches and you should be aware of them. You should complete the sketch by shading the legs accordingly.
