How to Draw Human Face How to Draw Human Face Drawing a human face might seem most challenging of all sketching but it is not always so. With knowledge of some basic drawing techniques and good observation, sketching a human face becomes simpler. If you want to learn to draw a human face, then following instructions may be helpful to you:

Instructions

Firstly, draw the face shape of the person. Here we will take an oval shape, slightly wider at the top. Now divide this oval by lightly drawing a vertical line down the center. Also make a horizontal line across the face, such that it is halfway between the top and bottom of the oval. The lower remaining space should be further divided by four smaller horizontal lines. These are the major divisions that will define the location of important facial features.
Now start adding the facial features. We will begin with the eyes. Make two almond shapes on the middle horizontal line. While drawing the eyes make sure the inner corners are tilted down, this is how most eyes look. As for the outer corner, you can either tilt it up or down depending upon the choice.
Draw a nose down the center line. Make sure while the nose is narrower between the eyes it is wider at the nostrils. Since, everyone’s nose is unique, so observe the person’s nose properly whose portray you are making. Capturing the nose exactly will give your drawing more realistic finish.
Now move back up to the top horizontal line for adding ears. Note that while the ears will stick out wider at the top, they will come in near the lobes. Moreover, some lobes are attached and some are loose so carefully incorporate these features in your drawing.
Add lips at the lower portion of the face and above the chin. Also add other finer details like eye balls, eyebrows, eyelashes etc.
Finally give desired hair style to your sketch. If it is straight hair, draw parallel lines curving around the head. If it is curly hair draw curved lines. Also add the suitable parting for the hair style like centre parting or side parting.

The rough sketch is almost done. Look out for more details that you would like to add to your face sketch. Though you may not be able to achieve perfection at first few attempts but with practice you will surely master the sketching skill.
