If the dress is a loose one, then you will have to pay attention to the flows and folds of the dress. In case of a tight outfit, focus on the curves of the figure.
Now you can sketch the folds of the dress. Few slanted vertical lines can be used to reflect the flow of the dress out from the waist.
To give realistic touch to your drawing, establish the darker and the lighter shaded areas of the dress. For the areas that are to be highlighted go for lighter shading and vice versa. Usually the edges of the dress should be a little darker than the other lines you draw for the body part.
