How to Draw Clowns How to Draw ClownsDrawing is a great art representing your creative mind unleashed. It can be done as a profession, a hobby or simply as an activity to satisfy your creative urge. But like every art this requires patient learning and practice to achieve perfection. Also this should be perfected from the simple to complex to achieve respectable skills. To do this you must begin by learning to draw simple figures and perfect them and then you can advance to more intricate drawings. We will discuss how to draw the simple figure of a clown that is entertaining to yourself and your friends but also make you to step in the art of drawing.

To begin with you must be well armed with the tools of the trade, which are –

1. Drawing papers and set of pencils of different grades of shades,

2. Eraser and color box.

3. It is better to a have a model from some cartoons or photos of clowns and study the shape and details of the clown.

Remember that when you draw some lines later you may have to erase the art of these lines as they are covered by some other parts.

4. Begin with an oval shape representing the head and for your convenience draw with light shaded pencil vertical and horizontal lines in the head. These will be erased later! But they give you the symmetry of the eyes, mouth and other parts. Otherwise as a beginner you will not be able to place them in correct symmetry.

5. Draw the outlines of hair and neck ruffle around the head.

Now you have to give shape to the mouth and eyes. Mouth will be in the shape of a wide grin, typical of a clown.

6. To draw this you have to draw two triangle shaped lips widely separated and lifted up on the sides.

7. Similarly the eyes are small balls that five you the effect of a stare. The eyebrows are again curves drawn with exaggerated height to give you the feeling of a grin.

The nose of a clown is nothing but a large spherical bowl and you can simply draw a perfect circle in the position of the nose to give the unique identity of the clown.

8. Make the circle big enough to almost cover the space between eyes and the laughing mouth. Add the details to these facial parts.

9. Make the eyes more realistic by thickening the eye brows and the eyelids. Even you can draw the pupils in the eyes.

10. Add teeth line behind the lips. Give the shape of arcs in the ruffle around the neck and some shade lines to the hair.

You can draw large ears but they should be covering part of the hair. So erase part of the hair where the ears are drawn. Now carefully erase the background guidelines without affecting the parts of the face. Now you can keep adding the shading lines parallel to the outlines to give the look of depth and a more realistic appearance but do not overdo it.

This is the basic method of drawing a clown and a practice this several times on different models and soon you will know how easy it is draw a clown and more figures.
