Steps to draw a chibi character

Look at the chibi character closely. You would notice that it has a big head which can be round or rectangular, a rectangular body, round eyes, bushy hair, rectangular hands and no nose.

  • To begin the painting, you can start with head. Draw a circle. You need to mark the center lines lightly with dashed lines. Now make space for the eyes.
  • Once you lightly keep the space for the eyes, start with a defined eye. The eyes are drawn with an oval shape with the bottom erased off with a slightly curvy line suggesting the eyelid. Draw the pupils and on one side of the pupil (lower right) draw two very small white circles for creating the shine. You can color the eye but leave these two circles as they are.
  • Draw the eyebrows on top of the eyes. It can be two slightly curvy lines placed exactly in the mid distance from the forehead and the eyes.
  • Draw the lips at the lower center of the face. You can draw a semi circle for the lower lip and a straight line for the upper lip.
  • For the hair, you can draw irregular lines that look like streaks of hear around the head. If you want any accessories on the head like a cap or a helmet, you can do that as well.
  • Now draw the body. Remember as the body is too short, there is no scope for the neck. Literally the character has no neck. So start the body directly after the face.
  • Draw a rectangular shape for the upper body.
  • Draw legs in the similar manner of two rectangular shapes attached to the body.
  • Similarly repeat the process for the hands and draw the thumb and the palm.

Now your Chibi character is ready for coloring.
