The first step towards drawing carton people is to draw the basic shapes of the people with a pencil. Draw oval shapes for the heads of each cartoon. You can add “V”-shape structures in case you are drawing the face of women.
Next step is drawing the body parts of the cartoons. For each cartoon, create the upper part of the body with larger oval shapes than the face and place it just below the head. Then, create the waste part by adding inverted triangle below the larger oval shape. The triangles form the hip area of the cartoon people. It’s better to create wider triangles for female characters to make the hip look wider.
After the body is designed, you can add hands and legs to the structure. Attach the hands as lines drawn from the bigger oval shapes. For some, cartoons you can draw straight lines and for others, you can draw ‘L’ shaped lines that appear like the hands are bent at elbows. Add small circular guidelines to make fingers at the end of the hands. Create the legs by drawing downward lines from the inverted triangles. Attach feet to the legs in the form of small triangles. Then draw parallel lines near the hands and legs to make them appear thicker.
Draw crosses inside the faces with lighter stroke of pencil to create the frame for facial structures. Use simple shapes to draw different parts of the faces. For instance, use a bigger cone-shaped structure to draw a long nose for male character. If you want to add moustache to the face, you can apply your creative mind to draw that. An inverted “V” shape is a perfect idea for that. The lips of the female face can be drawn by drawing a curved line on the lower part of the face and a flat “M” shape above that line.
Draw the eyes in the form of circles and eyebrows in the form of curved lines above the eyes. Add other details of the face one by one. Sometimes, you may not have to draw the details of the facial parts if you are drawing many people.
While drawing clothing for the cartoon people, you don’t need to go for the details. Just apply your imagination. If you want to draw suit for the male characters, draw a “V” shape near the neck, a vertical line below that and then a curved line below the vertical line. You can also draw tie by creating two circles near the “V” shape to add more details. Female dresses can be drawn by adding a curved line at the upper part of the chest and another below the knee.
Draw the shoes by adding some small lines to the triangles that you have already created as feet.
Now, the cartoon figures are already done. Erase the gridlines that you have drawn to create frames and other lines that are not necessary.
Use different colors to define the dresses of the cartoon people and their hair.
