How to Draw Cartoon Cars
There may be occasions when you have to impress your tiny tots by drawing cartoon cars for them. Although it may seem an easy job, yet if you learn the nuances of drawing the cars well, your kids will really be happy with your effort. Let us learn how to draw cartoon cars in a step-by-step manner so that you can really produce a great design.
- You can start by drawing the car curves first. Draw two curves for the body and the bonnet and then another curve just below it to outline the other side of the bonnet. Now that the body is done, you can concentrate on the headlights.
- Draw two small circles on the outer side of the two curves which you constructed for the bonnet. Make concentric circles to emphasize the headlights. Once you draw the headlights, you can complete the other parts of the body. You can draw smaller curves on the outside of the headlights and then extrapolate the lines outwards.
- Join the two curves extending from both sides of the headlights to form the lower bumper in front. Join the outer curve that you had drawn for the body with the line drawn for the bumper.
- Make sure that you get your curves right. The curves should be drawn in a free flow of the hand so that it looks like a real cartoon car. You can practice drawing the curves many times so that you get it right when you draw the car.
- Next you have to draw the windows and the windshield in the car. The sizes of the windows will vary and you will have to draw them as if you are viewing the car from the front and right hand side of the car. The angled look requires you to draw
the windows proportionately. - First, draw the windshield in the front just below the curve of the body and above the curve of the bonnet. It should be a proper quadrilateral. Then you can draw the windows at the side.
- The rear view mirrors can be added just below the line of the windshield. They should be placed between the windshield and the front-side window. Add a curvaceous rectangular bumper at the bottom and the front of the cartoon car.
- Then draw the wheel wells. Erase the line joining the curve of the body and the bumper and draw two big arcs. Again, the front wheel well should be larger than the one behind because of perspective.
- Then you can add the details to make it look like a superb cartoon car. You can create an aerial at the back and also the impressions of the back bumper and the taillight. A rectangular plate on the front bumper will look great as the number plate and you can also draw the grill lines just above it.
- Lastly, you can add the wheels. Draw a large oval inside the well and another oval concentric to it. You can add some thickness to the wheel too. Now you have a great looking cartoon car!
If you feel that your effort has not been worthwhile, you can try doing it all over again. Your second attempt at drawing the cartoon car will certainly turn out to be much better than the first one.
