Instructions

  1. First draw a small circle. It should be hand drawn and hence need not be perfectly round. This round shape will form the base of the flower.
  2. Now from the bottom of the circle draw an extended vertical and slight curvy line. Draw another curvy line parallel to this line. Make sure that they are very closely drawn. The distance at the base should be more but as the lines advance upwards they should merge. This will form the stem of the flower.
  3. Add thorns and leaves to the stem. For thorns you need to draw small but bold curved lines at both the sides of the stem. For leaves draw tear drop shapes, with their pointed ends facing slightly upwards. Draw these leaves on both sides of the stem. At the center draw a leave vein by making a curved line, extending from the bottom to the top of the leave. Add jagged lines along the outlines of the leaves for more real look.
  4. Now make the flower. Just above the round shape draw a thin oval shape. It should be drawn horizontally. Next join this oval with the sides of the circle with two How to Draw a Rosecurved lines, one on each side. Within the oval center add a small hook shape with its line extending to join the circle below. Now join the line on the left side to another curvy line extending from within the bottom-centre of the circle. Make sure the new line is more bulging at the middle and top. This will form the petal of the flower.
  5. Also join the second curved line on the right side of the circle to the line joining the circle and the oval. This too will form a petal. Add another small petal on the left side of the first petal. Make an inverted, curvy V shape between the side of the first petal and the extended hook line.
  6. Your sketch is almost complete. Erase the all the unwanted (intersecting) lines .Add shadings where ever required like leaves, petals and stem.
  7. If you want you can also add color to your sketch. Make sure that even while coloring, you add shading effect to the desired areas.
