How to Draw a Penguin
Penguin is a beautiful bird with a big egg shaped body and long arms and cute, tiny feet. They are quite impressive and hence are often featured in popular mov¬ies and cartoons. If you too adore this bird and want to draw it, then this article will help you learn sketching a penguin in the easiest way.
Take your paper, pencil and eraser and get started. Carefully follow the instructions so as to avoid any confusion and to get your drawing right.
Instructions
- First draw a long oval shape for the body and then a smaller oval for the head. Make sure both the ovals are touching each other. These two bare oval shapes will be transformed into the bird’s structure in the next few steps.
- In this step we will add beak and feet to the structure drawn earlier. Add a tear drop beak to the top oval. Now make a thinner egg shape inside the lower oval such that its bottom lines merge with the lines of the bigger oval. This inner oval will form the belly of the bird. Draw two webbed feet at the bottom of the body portion. The feet should be drawn facing a bit away from one another.
- Now draw the flippers or arms to the bird’s structure. For this, draw elongated ovals, slightly pointed at their ends. Also make neck using lighter pencil lines. It should be in rectangular shape (a bit curvy), staring from the top of the beak and touching the top of the belly portion.
- Add two circles or ovals for the eyes and two slanting lines for the eyebrows. Also add a line to each of the webbed feet. Add further details for finer finish by making curved lines for the mouth, nostrils and also few feathers on top of the head.
- Now darken the lines you want to keep and carefully erase the extra or intersecting lines. You can use a felt-tip pen to trace the outlines.
- Your penguin structure is complete. Now if you wish you can add color to it or draw the bird again for better finishing.
