The face is one of the complicated lots because of the various sections that are there like the eyes, nose lips etc. Each of these sections is equally important just because these are the features that distinguish one from the others. This is the reason why you should be extremely careful when drawing these shapes in a face. While it is more complicated to make a face completely, you can start learning to draw by taking one shape after the other. Nose is not as complicated as the eyes but is more complicated than the lips. Hence it would do one good to practice drawing the nose before setting about making a face. First of all, it would do immense good, if you could keep the picture of a person and start imitating the shapes to learn faster than drawing from memory. Keep the image of a less complicated picture and start drawing.
Also collect the drawing materials like, rough drawing paper, light and dark pencils, erasers, sharpeners, and color sketches if you want.
Now first of choose whether you want to draw a nose from the front or from the side. Because the shape of the nose is the highest in a face, if you drawing from the side, it almost sticks out of the face and if you are drawing from the front, you have to make sure you give the nose the required height, which can prove a bit tricky.
Break the nose image to the major and minor parts. The major parts are the nose line, nostril shapes and the height.
First of all make an outline of the nose you want to draw. Make lighter strokes to create the nose line perfect. If you are drawing sideways, the nose starts with a lower beginning from the corner of the eyes and goes to create a pick and droops fast making a semi circle and joining with the lips. Sometime the nose can have two picks, with the first one pretty lower than the tip.
Use pencil strokes to give the nose height.
Define the nostrils. The outline of the nostril is clearly visible while the shadow that is a bit darker. Also, remember that when you are drawing from the side, the semi circle of the nostril has to stick out a bit. The other nostril can have the upper part of the circle only with the shadows under it making a vague oval shape.
Once you have drawn the outline properly, you can make the lines darker and use shades to make the high and low points as required. But if you are using colors, then do so with a dark and light shade. The section that stay clear in light are to be drawn in lighter shade while the darker areas can be given a darker shade.
