You require paper, pencil, eraser, colored pencils or crayons to draw a lion.- The first step to draw a lion is to draw its face which is the most important part of its body. Draw an oval-shaped figure on a piece of paper with lines to mark the spots for drawing other parts of the face such as eyes, nose, and mouth. Draw two almond-shaped outlines for the eyes in the upper half of the face. To portray the details of the eyes, draw two half circles close to the upper eyelids and fill the half circles. They will form the pupils. Make an inverted triangle in the middle of the face and connect the triangle with two curved lines to the eyes to form the snout of the lion king. Add two ovals from the bottom of the nose, extended towards both sides of the face. This is to form the mouth part of the lion. Add another oval shape towards the bottom of the face to make the chin. Draw the whiskers as curved lines on each side of the mouth. Draw ears of the lion as two slightly rounded triangles. While drawing the ears, keep in mind that they are at a distance from the face giving space for the mane. Draw another oval with light pencil strokes below the ears encircling the face to draw the fluffy mane. Add squiggle lines all over the outer oval to form the mane and make it appear thicker by drawing the curves close to each other.

The face part of drawing a lion is over. The next step is to draw its body. Draw a medium-size horizontal oval to make the body. There is nothing more to draw in the body. But you need to think while drawing its legs. Because you have to shape the legs depending on the sitting or standing position of the lion. If your lion is standing inside the jungle, draw vertical lines to form the legs and then oval shapes at the end of the legs to draw paws. Make sure the lines for the legs are not straight, but curved backward a little in the middle of the legs to form knees. If the lion is relaxing, you don’t need to draw four legs. Add two curved legs parallel to the body and draw paws. - The last part to draw the lion is to draw a tail. Add two S-shaped lines going parallel to each other from the body of the lion and join them towards the end. Draw small lines at the tip of the tail to make it look bushy.
- Erase the extra lines from the face.
- Fill the body, mane and face of the lion with colors to give a better look.
- You can also create a surrounding for the lion.
Tips:
- Draw the lion with light strokes of pencil and darken the lines after drawing the animal completely.
- Keep a picture of the lion while drawing to get idea about the details.
