How to Draw a Bird
The features of fast and fleeting birds may not be easy to capture on paper. However, the basic structure of the bird can be easily drawn by following the ‘Basic Shapes Rule’. When drawing birds, you just need to focus on the basic shapes that make the structure of the bird. This will make your drawing session easier, quicker and will yield desired results. Here are some instructions that will help you make a bird. So, carefully follow the instructions and see how easily you can draw a bird.
Instructions
- First draw a small circle for the head and adjoining bigger circle for the body. Make sure the head circle is slightly towards the left, with its lower base line intersecting the body. Now add guidelines for the beak, wing, feet, and branch.
- Let’s start working on the beak. For this you need to draw an elongated half oval shape extending from the lower portion of
the head. The beak should be slightly pointed at the tip. Add a thin parallel line running beside the line of the beak falling to the right. Now attach the open side of the lines by a small curve. Add a small circle for the eye. - Now we will make wings of the bird. For this, draw a tear drop shape emerging from the top-mid of the body and extending up to the tail part. This shape should be broader in the middle and pointed at the tail side. At the tip of the tear drop add a small rectangle that is a bit expanded on the left side. This will be used for making stubby tail.
- Add feathers to your bird for a complete look. Start with the feathered crown and then move onto the back and wings of the creature. Make small and long curvy lines for giving the feather effect.
- Add feet to the bird. Draw hook-like shapes for the feet. Also draw the branch on which the bird is sitting. Make two slightly curvy parallel lines for this.
Your bird sketch is done. If you are satisfied with your drawing then add colors to it. However, if not satisfied then simply practice some more times to achieve perfection.
