How to Create a Facebook Fan Page

A Facebook fan page is a great medium to share information and interact with people relating to a particular organization, business, celebrity, band or similar personality. Once you create such a fan page, many people can join the page to officially communicate and connect with the particular person or institution. The created fan page can be further effective in establishing communication between different fans by using various add-in apps and plug-in software. Your fan page can attract more visitors and members based on the recommendation of the Facebook users who are have already joined the page. If you have a personal Facebook account, you can use the same for creating and managing a fan page.

As per the Guidelines issued by Facebook, you can open a fan page only if you are the official representative of a specific organization, business, celebrity, or band. Once the official representative created a fan page, he is allowed to add other representatives to provide him help in managing the page. So you can add others as a representative so that they can update and edit their pages from their own accounts. If you do not have the required legal permissions to open a fan page officially for a celebrity or organization, you can create a group in Facebook instead of creating the fan page.
Once you have got the required approvals to represent an entity, officially you need to choose a particular name which will be used by other users to search the presence of the fan page on Facebook. For example, if you have decided to create a fan page for Al Pacino, the page should appear in the search results page whenever a user tries to check the presence of Al Pacino of Facebook. Always try to use some keywords and name which is related to the person or organization’s popular name along with the type of product or service industry the entity is associated with. Always spend some time in deciding a suitable name for the fan page, as you are not allowed to edit, modify or change the name of the fan page after its creation.
After creating the page by filling up the new page form, you can access your created fan page simply by typing the name of the page in the search bar appearing at the top of Facebook page. The drop down list displaying the search results will include your page, which you can access by clicking on the specific link. If you want to modify or add some data posted on the page, you can click on the “Edit Page” link appearing underneath the Page’s profile picture. With that option, you can go to the original profile form entered by you while creating the fan page and easily add any addition information you have gathered.
As the administrator of a fan page you will also need to update your connections on a regular basis. You can easily do the updation by clicking on the publisher located on your Wall tab at the top of the fan page. There you have option to perform a set of relevant activities like updating your status, asking a question, posting photos, sharing a link, and recording and uploading a video. Once you post something in the fan page, the same will appear in the walls of all the people who have already liked the fan page. So instead of communication with each of the members, you can simply post something on the fan page to share the information or update with all other fans.
