Preparation time in a slow cooker for a simple lamb roast is very less and the crock pot will also make sure that the roasting of the lamb is done to perfection without any mess. While your lamb is getting roasted in the slow cooker, you also get time to cook other dishes in your menu. The things which are needed for preparing roast lamb in a slow cooker are as follows:

  • Heavy skillet
  • A sharp knife
  • Meat fork
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • Some chopped rosemary
  • Meat thermometer

So, let us get on with the act of cooking lamb roast in a slow cooker by following the step by step guide given below:

  • You can notice a paper thin pinkish layer on the outside of the meat. This is known as the fell. You have to use a sharp knife to remove this fell from the lamb roast.
  • Now you shall have to heat the heavy skillet to a hot temperature over medium flame. Then put 4 tbsp of oil over it.
  • You have to now put the lamb roast in the hot oil. Make sure that the color changes to brown by searing the outside. Here you can use a meat forks or tongs to turn the lamb roast to all sides for ensuring that each of its sides changes to brown color and gets seared.
  • Now take the seared roast out and place it in a slow cooker.
  • Use some chopped rosemary to sprinkle over the lamb roast. You have to make sure that the rosemary covers the entire roast. This can be done by turning the lamb roast on all sides with the help of tongs or meat forks.
  • Cover the slow cooker with a lid and lower the flame.
  • You have to now allow the lamb to cook for about 6 to 8 hours in the slow cooker.
  • You can use a meat thermometer to check the internal reading of the roast. When you notice that the reading is 150 degrees, you know that the roast is ready.
  • You can then remove the roast from the slow cooker and put it on a platter. However it is advised that you wait for around 20 minutes before slicing the meat.
