How to Cook Jasmine Rice
Jasmine rice also known as Thai fragrant rice is a type of aromatic rice. It can be clearly identified with its long and thin variety grain, generally grown in Thailand. It is more specifically found in Asian cuisine. Cooking jasmine rice commences with choosing the right kind of rice i.e. old or new. Care must be taken while choosing such aromatic rice because as aromatic rice gets older it loses its aroma. Hence preference must be given to the newer rice with long grains without dust. While cooking, the people of Thailand gives greater importance to the flavor which is a combination of both the aroma as well as the taste.
Cooking procedure
- First of all collect all the necessary ingredients required. They are Container, Pressure cooker, Water, A pinch of Salt, Vinegar, Peas, Coriander leaves, Mint, Beans, Carrot and lemon.
- Now rinse the rice in a container thoroughly and nicely until it leaves all the white mucilaginous substance after the wash.
- Take the pressure cooker and put the rice in it with water. For example if you are taking 250gms of rice then add ½ liter of water to it i.e. add that much water to the pressure cooker that all the rice get completely submerged into it.
- To avoid time consumption on cooking the rice, you should soak it in vinegar for 10 minutes before putting it in the pressure cooker with water. It will help in fast cooking of the rice. You can also put a pinch of salt to the water mixed rice in the cooker.
- Now, seal the cover of the pressure cooker and put it on low flame until you get two whistles from the cooker. Check out whether rice is completely cooked or not. If the rice is cooked pour out the starch formed during cooking and take out the rice in a bowl. Now your rice is ready and is half way to be served on the plate.
- While cooking the rice simultaneously take another frying pan and add some finely chopped onions to it, fry them until they get little brown. Nowadd 100gm beans and carrot each respectively to the frying pan with onion and fry them together. Finally add the cooked rice to it. Stir it well so that the rice will lose its wetness. Now they are just ready to be served.
Serving techniques
- Put the rice in a bowl or plate and garnish it with coriander leaves or just put a few lemon slices at the corner of the bowl with mint leaves attached to it.
