How to Cook Chips
To make chips or potato chips you need to have certain things to help in cooking. First, you need to have potatoes for the purpose. You can start by having two potatoes, two table spoons of cooking oil and butter and salt for taste. In case of other equipments you need a regular oven or a microwave oven. You should also have a frying pan, a potato peeler, a mandolin, a sauce brush and baking tray. Once you have collected all the equipments right you can straight away start with cooking.
- First you need to wash the potatoes well with cold water. Then you need to dry them with a paper towel. Next you should peel the potatoes well by using a peeler. You should make sure to cut the potatoes extremely thin. This you can do with the help of a sharp knife or a mandolin. Next you have to coat the potato slices with oil. This you can do with the help of a sauce brush or you can even make use of hands. Before entering into the main stream of cooking you need to sprinkle salt on the potato slices.
- When preparing potato chips you have to decide on several things. What equipments you are using, the amount of time you require for cooking and what kind of potato chips you would prefer to have. Remember, deep fried potato chips are tastier and crisper, but you need to apply a great amount of oil for the purpose. Baked potato chips on the other hand are drier and crunchier. Microwave potato chips are the healthiest of the lot and they are prepared using the least amount of oil.
- In case of baked potato chips you need to preheat the oven at a temperature of 400 degree Fahrenheit. You should place the potato chips slices well on a baking tray. The baking process should not take more than 10 to 15 minutes till the item becomes brown and crispy. In the half way of the baking process you should flip the chips well. After you have taken the chips out of the oven you must allow them to cool and then you must serve them along with toppings and sauces.
- In case of deep frying the chips you need to pour two cups of oil into the frying pan. Add the slices and cook till semi brown and firm. After you have removed the chips you must allow them to dry on a paper towel. You must make sure to sprinkle salt before serving the item.
- In matters of microwave cooking you first need to take a tray and place the slices well on it. Set a high temperature and cook for three to five minutes. Take out the chips and allow them to be cooled. You must make sure to add salt before serving the chips.
Remember, no matter what process you follow, potato chips are extremely tasty and they are preferred equally by all age groups.
