How to Cook Chestnuts
Chestnuts are perfect ingredients for preparing wide variety of savory dishes as well as deserts. High in nutritional value, they can be used mashed or braised with several other ingredients for making delicious delicacies. They are extensively used by Americans in stuffings and deserts.
There are innumerable chestnut recipes that you can try. No matter which recipe you choose, always prefer to use fresh chestnuts; however you can also use canned whole chestnuts or even chestnut puree in your recipes if fresh ones are not available or are out of season.

Ingredients
Whipping cream
Soft Butter
1 cup of brown sugar
1 large egg
5 tbsp plain flour
12 tsp of chestnut extract (cooked chestnuts or canned chestnut puree)
3 Tablespoons toasted almonds, chopped
Preparation
- Take a large bowl and whisk together soft butter, sugar and egg.

- Slowly add flour to the mix and stir constantly.
- Add the chestnut extract and properly blend it with the prepared mix in the bowl.
- Also add the toasted almonds to the above prepared mix.
- Place a piece of waxed paper on a flat surface or table and carefully spoon the mixture into the paper in the shape of a long roll.
- Roll the wax paper and properly seal its ends.
- Place it in refrigerator and allow it to freeze for about few hours until it is firm.
- Make sure you remove the roll from the freezer just 15 minutes prior serving.
- Cut off the amount you are going to serve. Since it is extremely rich, prefer cutting it into smaller pieces.
- Now you can top it off with fresh whipped cream.
- After serving, you can always place the remaining desert back into the freezer.
