How to Cook Acorn Squash
Well do not underestimate the taste of the acorn squash. The humble fruit in the supermarket can addict you to its tender taste. If you want to see for yourself here’s how to cook acorn squash.
Buy fresh acorn squash. That’s very important. You do not want to waste your time and energy cooking something that is already withered.
To begin with pre-heat your oven up to 400 degrees. Fill the baking dish with clean water about an inch.
Wear a pair of gloves if you have freshly manicured nails or do not want to soil your hands. Cut the acorn squash into two from the centre. Now scoop away all the seeds with the hands or a spoon.
Clean it up. Now fill some sugar, in the place of the seeds, about two to three spoonfuls or according to your taste buds. Add about one table of butter on top of this.
You can even use maple syrup, honey, cream, caramel, butter rum flavours for toppings.
Now place the filled acorn squash into the baking dish. Cover it with foil. Make a slit or two on the foil to let stem pass.
Bake for 45 minutes in the oven, covered. Remove the dish and undo the cover. Now cook for another 15minutes. Once done, pierce the acorn squash with a fork to see if it tender and well-cooked. If it is soft and pulpy remove from the dish.
Let it cool for five minutes and serve in a plate. Relish the soft and tender acorn squash, which is going to get over soon. Why worry? Cook acorn squash again with a different filling and dig in.
