How to Clear a Browser Cache
The browser cache is a set of temporary internet folders which store vital data and statistics of all your web activities. It stores data about the recent history of the sites you have viewed, the mail ids and passwords and many other scripts that are required to run a particular webpage. It may include JavaScript, the Ajax files and the previous login records. The browser cache is very vulnerable to hacker’s attack and possesses substantial threat to your privacy and security. It is therefore of utmost importance to clear your browser cache. Cleaning the cache not only frees you from the hassles of worrying about your privacy but also makes your pc work faster by increasing the disk volume by deleting the unnecessary temporary internet files.
The browser cache can be deleted manually but the process is different for different browsers.
Internet Explorer
- When the browser is in the working condition, then go and click the Tools menu. This can also be done alternatively by pressing ctrl-shift-delete simultaneously. Then open the delete browsing history window.
- Click on Delete Browsing History.
- Then select the option of “Temporary Internet Files”.
- Then click on Delete button. This will help you to get rid of all the temporary internet files that are stored in the local folder.
- If your want your system to perform the above task automatically while you exit your browser then click on Advanced tab. Then check the “Empty Temporary Internet files folder when browser is closed” option in the security options. Then press OK. The following action takes care about the automatic deletion of the temporary internet files except the cookies.
Firefox
- When the browser is in the working condition, then go and click the Tools menu. This can also be done alternatively by pressing ctrl-shift-delete simultaneously.
- Then click on clear recent history.
- On the “Time range to clear” tab click “Everything” in the drop down menu.
- Then go and click on the Details tab and choose only Cache.
- Click on Clear Now.
Mozilla Sea Monkey
- When the browser is in the working condition, then go and click the Edit menu and select the preferences tab.
- On the left hand side of the given list go and click on Advanced tab and select the Cache option.
- Finally click on the Clear Cache button and your work is done.
Google Chrome
- When the browser is in working condition, then go and click on the Tools menu and then select Options.
- Select Clear Browsing data option under the “Under the Hood” tab.
- In the next step select the Empty the cache option.
- You can also customize the option of the time range you want to delete by selecting the Clear data from this period dropdown menu. If you want everything to be deleted then click on Everything.
- Click the Clear Browsing Data button.
Opera
- When the browser is in working condition, then go and click on the Tools menu and then select delete private data.
- The next step is to click on details button.
- From the checklist given below select the options you want to delete like cookies, saved passwords, etc.
Thus your browser is safe from all the sensitive data and you are freed from your browsing history.
