Kabuki brushes are found in almost all women’s makeup kit. Normally, the equipment contains a rounded or flat brush head along with a short stem and short flat head. Traditional designs of these brushes used a brush head made of soft animal hair. Normally, the brushes are made out of hairs of different animals like a goat or squirrel. But the modern versions of the instrument contain bristles completely made of synthetic taklon fibers.
People use this brush mostly for applying powder based or dry makeup products like blush or foundation. There are some popular mineral makeup products which contains this brush inside their packages. The quality of a good brush is measured by the type of hair used to make the instrument. But while selecting this brush, you should consider the softness of its bristles and the density of the brush head. Kabuki brushes are one of the most portable and small brushes used for applying beauty products. So this brush can be easily stored in a cool and dry place with very low amount of humidity. Even though the brushes are comparatively smaller in size, still they require specialized maintenance and cleansing on a regular basis. You have to clean the brush after using it each time and wash it at regular intervals.
Instructions
- After using a kabuki brush, you can clean it by removing the leftover pigment. Just tap the brush at the back of your hand to make it clean. Also, you can cleanse the instrument by using any of the mild makeup cleaners. But each time before storing the brush, you have to ensure that the brush has dried up completely. You can use a paper towel or tissue to dry it thoroughly. Don’t wring the brush while cleaning as it may lead to disintegrating of the instrument.
- In comparison to other makeup instruments, these brushes require additional maintenance and regular washing. As most of these brushes contain natural brushes, you can use some baby or softening shampoo to wash the instrument. Also, for cleaning the brush you have to make a cleansing solution by using water, anti-bacterial soap or gel, and the shampoo. Add these ingredients in a bowl and keep the pot stirring till the mixture becomes frothy. Now swirl the bristles in the cleansing solution for three minutes and then allow it some time to dry. Avoid using a towel to dry the brush as the bristles will be damaged and shed. You can simply lay the brush overnight to dry naturally, after tying a rubber-band around the bristles in a loose manner.
- The kabuki brush further requires a regular spot cleaning on a weekly basis. Spray a brush cleaner on the brush to cover the bristles completely. Dampen both sides of the brush after laying it flat. Use a clean piece of cloth and wipe the moistened bristles with the cloth. Keep wiping the bristles till the brush becomes completely clean.
