In this article we shall know about making a pool table that can not only help you play the game anytime you want but will also become an integral part of the décor of your house. The things that are needed for making a pool table are as follows:
- Power tools
- Staple gun
- Bubble level
- Nets
- Sandpaper
- Wood
- Felt
After having assembled all the things that are mentioned above, we can proceed on with the task of building a pool table by following the step by step guide given below:
- You have to begin by deciding on the dimensions of the table that you are going to build. Before deciding on the size of the table you have to take into consideration the size of the room where you shall be placing the table after making it. Make sure that the table fits in the room where you are planning to keep it. Generally pool tables are 9 feet ones which have a playing surface of 50 by 100 inches. Another thing which is important to be considered is the height of the table. Make sure that the table is as high as to help you lean over it comfortably. After having decided on the dimensions of the table, you have to select the kind of wood for your pool table. Take care to ensure that the wood which is selected for the playing surface is flat and hard or else it might affect the play. Now you have to make the six holes by cutting the divots. Make sure that there is one hole on each of the corners and one in the middle of each side. Use sandpaper to sand the surface properly and then set that aside.
- The edges of the table are also to be cut. Make sure that the cuts that you make are about 5.5 inches wide. Here you have to take care to choose the best wood so that the pool table looks its best after it is made. The tops of these edges can also be rounded off by using a plane so that it is not uncomfortable for you to lean on. Now we have to make the legs of the table. This has to be made by cutting the beams. All the wooden parts of the pool table need to be sanded properly and then the stain has to be applied. Use your imagination and creativity to paint the table. Take a green felt and place it over the playing surface. You can use staple guns for keeping the felt in place.
- After having done this, you have to assemble all the parts together. The legs of the table are to be bolted to the bottom of the edges of the pool table. The playing surface also has to be attached to the bottom of the edges by using brackets. Do not forget to add nets to the little six holes that have made on the playing surface. Last but not the least; you have to use a bubble level to ensure that your newly made pool table is even.
