How to Build a Mouse Trap
Mice may be preferred pets for some but for others it may just be annoying creatures that ought to kept away from home. For those who do not like the presence of these pesky creatures, a mouse trap is very important. There several ways to get rid of them. However, the best way to capture them is by using a mouse trap. Here are some of the ways of building and using a mouse trap. Carefully read the below given instructions if you want keep your home free from messy mice.
Instructions
- Get a tube like structure. It could be of any material like wood, plastic or even cardboard. You can use toilet paper tubes or other similar tube shape thing for making the mouse trap. The tube should be long and broad enough to allow the mouse to crawl through. It should resemble a tunnel.
- Now take a table or stool to the area where you want to catch the mouse. Put the tunnel shape thing on the table such that a part of it is on the table and another part is hanging off it. Prefer keeping 1/4th of the tube on the table and the remaining 3/4th off the end of the table.
- Place a heavyweight bucket just below the area where you kept the tunnel on the table. Make sure the hanging portion of the tube is just above the bucket.
- Place some food items at the end of the tunnel. Items like seeds or peanut butter can be used as bait for attracting the mice towards the tunnel. Carefully place the bait item inside the tunnel, on the hanging end.
Your mouse trap is done. Leave the trap overnight. It is most likely that the mouse will get attracted towards the food and will head towards it through the tunnel. As the mouse will move forward to retrieve the food, it will land to the hanging portion and hence will fall to the bucket placed below it. You can dispose off the mouse to the area, away from residential place.
Another Method
There is another easy method of building a mouse trap. Here are the steps that you need to follow to make the trap.
- Get a big bucket and fill three quarters of it with water. To facilitate the killing process, add some dish soap to the water.
- Place the bucket in the area that is affected by the mouse problem.
- Now take a long piece of wood or plastic and rest it on the rim of the bucket such that one end of the ramp is on the ground and the other at the bucket top.
- Place some food items like seeds on the ramp and also drop some of the seeds in water. Make sure to create alluring trail with the seeds. This will play a key role in attracting the mouse.
