How to Build a Frame
Pictures and photographs have always offered us a relishing memory whenever we put a glimpse over one. At times these photographs even tend to push us back into the time when they were actually clicked. Placing these evergreen memories as photos in distinctively cool frames is also an art. Many of us even tend to make their interiors look more appealing through various photo frames pin up on the walls or even placed over a table top, cupboard etc. Some even desire to collect and build a picture frame as a passion to let their reminiscences alive.
We all normally come across a time when we fail to put a photograph in its corresponding frame. Then we have to simple store it in a plastic bound album. But now you can very well keep it in your own expected frame following the relatively simple steps mentioned in here: -
- Take all the necessary dimensions (length and breath) of your photograph on a plain paper. Never make the markings using the photograph itself as you might by mistake leave a spot on it rather than on the frame. Measure it with a ruler and a light shaded pencil.
- Notice that the wooden frame for holding the picture should be a little larger in dimensions than the actual size of the photograph so that you can easily fit it inside after the frame is ready.
- You can even go for any relevant design book or magazine to select your desired frame of fixing the pictures. Instead you can surf the internet and make full utilization of your expectations to come alive before you apply the frame on a piece of wood.
- While taking the dimensions over a piece of flat wood base, make sure to cut the frame with a few centimeters larger then the exact measurements you computed. This is done to prevent you from the wastage of the whole piece of wood if by some mistake you make errors while cutting the wood into a frame.
- You will be required to at least make four pieces of the wood. Applying a handsaw this task can be executed. Keep in mind whether you are going for a size that takes the shape of a portrait or a landscape. This is to ensure that two pieces out of the four should be of equal sizes that makes the breadth of the frame and the rest two for the lengths. Normally, the size of the pieces that makes the lengths of the wooden frame is around double of the sizes of the breadths.
Be careful while using the handsaw if you are not an expertise cause all the sides are done with an angle of 45o so that the inside portion of the frame where the picture will be placed or fixed should be blank.- After you are done with the pieces of the wood, arrange them to from the outline of the frame. Using a hammer and nails or even screws you can now fix all the sides. Smooth all the edges using a sand paper so that no splinters are found before applying the paints.
- You can even go for colors and shades that are not present ion the photograph so that the frame gives a contrasting look to the whole art. Apply spray paints or with the help of a paint brush but do not go for a thick coat initially. Instead you can apply three relatively thinner coats.
- You can attach or fix any hanging material to hold the frame if you try to hang it on a wall or make it stand on a table top. Use screws to make the stand moveable as per your requirement angle.
Materials used:-
- Flat base piece of wood (relatively thick)
- Screws/nails
- Hammer
- Handsaw
- Pencil (light shade)
- Ruler
- Paints
- Paint brush/sprayers
This way we can build a wooden frame to hold your photographs. But be careful while working with the tools and handsaw to avoid any injuries leading to serious consequences.
