How to Bowl a Strike

How to Bowl a Strike How to Bowl a StrikeYou must have often entered a bowling arena and observed people trying their level best to bowl a strike. In fact, it looks quite easy from where you stand and you wonder why the people are unable to knock the pins down. It is only when you try to do it yourself that you understand the difficulties of the game. It is not just about throwing the ball in any way to get the perfect strike. You have to master the techniques of placing your entire body in such a way and directing the ball efficiently to bowl a strike. Sometimes, you may begin by getting a strike but will then be frustrated by why you cannot repeat the same again and again. Let us find out the techniques which will help us to bowl a strike.

  1. The positioning of the feet is very important. You can’t just place your feet in any direction and expect to get a strike. Even if your throw is accurate and the power with which you throw the ball is good, wrong feet placement can spoil it all. The placement also depends on whether you are right handed or left handed. If you are right handed, then place your left foot in front right in line with the 1-pin. On the other hand, if you are left handed, then your right foot should aim towards the 1-pin. You may not be convinced about this tactic but you will realize its effectiveness in a short time.
  2. After maintaining the correct stance, you have to aim the ball now at the pins. Hold the ball carefully in your hand and draw your hand back. Now take 4 steps towards the track and release the ball while balancing your body properly. The ball should arc towards the track and aimed for a strike.
  3. The release of the ball has to be done at the proper time. If you release the ball without the complete swing of the arm, there will be very little force on the ball and it will not make a perfect strike. If you are late in releasing the ball, it may be diverted to the gutter and not strike any of the pins. In fact, you can understand very well when you have to release the ball. You can feel the moment there is maximum force on the ball. Your hand should aim at the strike zone.
  4. The follow through is also equally important. You should concentrate on your target and let your hands release the ball. You should think that your shoulders and feet will usually point in the direction where your eyes will see. And so unless you keep looking at the target your aim will all go astray.

If you are particular about following these steps, you will find that your aim will be perfect and you will be able to bowl a strike without fail. Your success may soon put you in the big league. Share these easy pointers with your friends and let them in on the secret to bowling a strike.
