How to Blacklist an Email Address How to Blacklist an Email AddressThere are certain times when you may want to sever contact with some individuals and not wish to receive any communication from them. As far as the cellphone is concerned, you have the simple option to avoid the person by accepting or rejecting his call. But in case of email you may be receiving mails which you don’t want to receive. There are a number of reasons for ignoring a person’s emails like a break up, quarrel or some other unhappy incident. Sometimes, there are also a lot of spam emails which simply stalks you with undesired messages and mails. You can simply select the email address of the sender and blacklist it from sending you any further emails. But while taking this action you have to be careful as after blacklisting the email address will be completely blocked. You will no longer receive or send any emails to this address from your side. But you cannot blacklist the spammers as with every message they change their purported address.

Instructions

If you are using Windows Live Hotmail

  1. If you have any email from the email address which you want to blacklist, then select the Options > More Options… from hotmail toolbar
  2. Follow the Safe and Blocked senders link under Junk e-mail, and click on Blocked senders
  3. Type the email address you want to blacklist under the Blocked e-mail address or domain. If you want to blacklist the domain, enter the domain name, i.e., what comes after the ‘@’ sign in an email address.

If you are using Gmail

  1. Gmail does not have Blocked Senders or Blocked Email Addresses blacklist options. So you have to use the Google spam filter to blacklist any email address. There is also a Filter messages option available in Gmail for this purpose.
  2. Open the email received by the email address which you want to blacklist. Click on the down arrow to open drop-down menu next to Reply button or click on the More Actions drop down menu. Select the Filter messages like this option.
  3. It will open the Create a Filter option pane with the automatically filled in email address. Do a recheck to ensure that the address is correct. You can also select to block a domain by entering the domain name, i.e., what comes after the ‘@’ sign in an email address. Click on the Next button.
  4. Select the preferred action to deal the blacklisted sender. You can also select Delete it as the default action as it will delete any email received from the email address or domain. All the messages matching to those criteria will be sent to trash automatically.
  5. You can also select some other options like, Skip the Inbox or Archive it, Mark as read, Star it, Apply a label, instead of trashing the email received fro the blacklisted email address or domain. You can apply a label like Blacklisted or Blocked, if you want to have a final look to ensure that no important email is misses out among the emails sent from the address blacklisted by you.

If you are using Yahoo! Mail

  1. Yahoo! Mail has an option to delete all emails received from a particular email address which you can use to blacklist a particular email address.
  2. Select Options> Mail Options.. and go to the Spam category
  3. Type the email address you want to blacklist under Add a blocked address:. And click Add,
  4. Click on the Save Change to balcklist the email address.
