Qualities:

1. You should have a knack for explaining things very well. Unless you are able to put everything into a lucid form, your students will not be able to grasp what you are teaching.

3. It is not good to keep a serious demeanor all the time while teaching. If your lessons are interspersed with jokes and humor, it tends to keep the class interested.
4. You should specialize for the category of students you are comfortable with. Some people have a flair for teaching small kids and some can handle teenagers better. Therefore, chose accordingly.
5. It is important for teachers to judge a student based on his performance and not his looks or reputation. Favoritism may not make you very popular.
6. Good teachers are generally very practical and realistic. They can take the right decision based on the situation they are facing. And since they have a variety of departments to look after besides teaching, they should use their common sense in all fields very adroitly.
7. The most important quality of a good teacher is of course to be a master in his subject. If he teaches in the elementary level, then he should understand child psychology well and know what tools to use to make a child understand. Similarly, teaching in higher classes requires being proficient in a typical subject like Math or Science.
8. A teacher has to be a tough nut to crack because he may have to face situations with students and administration where he must be able to hold his ground.

Procedure:

1. Before deciding to be a teacher, you must find out the type of teaching career you are suited for. You can interact with teachers and take classes in different grades on a volunteer basis to find out your strengths and weaknesses.
2. You can specialize in many fields like teaching in elementary school or taking a particular subject like Math or Science or even as a sports or music teacher.
3. Every state has its own teaching certification requirement. This will depend on the grade you will be teaching and the subject you specialize in. You have to find out these requirements and make sure you fulfill them.
4. You must have a Bachelor’s degree, or better, a Master’s degree from a good college or University. This will help to qualify you for the job.
5. Many states require you to undergo a Teacher education program so that you will be better qualified for the job. This will train you in the right direction.
6. Finally, you have to pass a test under the state or the PRAXIS exam to become a teacher.

Now that you have become a teacher, you must try your best to deliver better and more talented students to the nation. It is not just enough to build successful careers but it is more important to inculcate strict principles in the students.
