One can make barbequed fish taste even more delicious if it is marinated the right way. In this article we shall know the art of barbequing fish nicely and also learn about the right way to marinade it before doing so. The right marinade for your fish before grilling it can help it stay moist even after barbequing. The process of marinating the fish before grilling it is as given below:

  • Take a bowl and add in it 6 tbsp of lemon juice, 1 ½ tsp of sugar, 1/3 cup olive oil and some pepper and parsley. Mix all the ingredients properly. It is advised to use a plastic bag for the purpose of marinating the fish.
  • Place the fish inside the plastic bag. Be sure that the fish is prepared earlier by gutting and trimming away the excess fats. Once the fish is thoroughly cleaned, you can then place it inside the plastic bag and then pour in the marinating mix. Make sure that you pour in enough marinating mix so that the whole of fish is covered properly.
  • Mix all the ingredients and the fish properly so that the fish gets soaked in the marinating mix nicely. Cover the plastic bag and then chill it for about an hour before taking it out for grilling. Chilling the fish will allow the marinade to soak in properly inside the meat.

Now that we have completed the process of marinating, we can now move forward with its barbequing procedure. Have a look at the below mentioned points that can help you in barbequing fish in a better manner:

  • Of all the fish that can be barbequed well, the ones which are textured and firm stand a good chance of tasting delicious to the senses. Salmon and cod are two such varieties of fish that can taste really nice after grilling provided the process of marinating them has been duly followed.
  • Take out the marinated fish from the fridge and keep it out in the open for some time. While marinating the fish, you need to take care of one thing of not adding salt. Adding salt to the fish before grilling it can result in drying the fish out. Therefore you are free to add any amount of herbs and seasoning to the marinade but avoid adding any salt to the mix.
  • Before barbequing the fish, you shall have to ensure that your grill is clean enough. Take care to ensure that the rugs of the grill are clean and free from any leftover food. You cannot ignore this step as the taste of the grilled fish will depend on how clean the barbeque is. Therefore before setting out to place the fish on the grill make sure to clean it thoroughly.
  • Use olive oil while barbequing fish. This prevents fish from sticking to the grill while getting cooked. Do not turn the fish multiple number of times. As we know that fish is a delicate meat, you only need to turn it once after it gets seared on one side. A thin and wide spatula can help you in flipping the fish in an easier manner.
  • After both the sides of the fish are cooked well, you can remove the fish from the grill and sprinkle some salt over it. Your barbequed fish is ready!
