As some laboratory tests have highlighted, the amount of protein contained in 2 tablespoons of almond butter equals the amount of protein contained in 1 ounce of lean meat. It will take only a few minutes to make the almond butter at your home and entertain your family members and guests by serving a variety of crackers and bread toasts and sandwiches. Further, the recipe used for making the almond butter can further be extended to prepare butter from other varieties of crispy nuts like cashews and peanuts.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups crispy almonds
  • 3/4 cup of coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt

Instructions

  • Soak and dehydrate the almonds to prepare these as an ingredient to make butter. When you soak and dry the almonds, the fatty acids and other anti-nutrients elements contained by the crispy nuts are removed. Further, the almonds become more digestible after being soaked and dried before being processed to prepare the butter.
  • Some people even prefer to prepare the butter with roasted almonds. If you decide to use baked almonds, you can spread the crispy nuts on a shallow baking pan by forming a single layer. Bake the almonds at 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees centigrade for about 8 minutes or till the nuts start turning light golden in color. However, based on your personal taste you can make the butter from raw as well as roasted almonds.
  • Place the prepared almonds and sea salt inside a food processor and grind to form a fine powder. Add the coconut oil and raw honey or maple syrup to the ground almonds. Process the ingredients till the butter becomes smooth.
  • When you prepare the almond butter, the same will not be completely hardened. You have to chill the liquid peanut butter to make it hard. Transfer the liquid peanut butter into an airtight container and store inside the refrigerator to harden. When it is time to serve, remove the peanut butter from refrigerator and serve at room temperature. You also have options to replace half of the coconut oil with untoasted sesame oil or pressed sunflower oil to keep the peanut butter less hard after the refrigeration process.
  • After making the homemade almond butter, you can serve the healthy and yummy dish with fruits. You can even make the delicious sandwich by using sliced breads, almond butter and banana.
