Step # 3: The next step is to convert the division form in to the multiplication form. This can be done in the following way. Keep the first fraction in the way it is. Now reverse the second fraction. This can be done by making the numerator as denominator and vice-versa.
Step # 4: The numerator of the resulting fraction will be the product of the two numerators and the denominator of the resultant fraction will be the product of both the denominators.
Step # 5: Now that the procedure is finished, we shall now reduce the fraction to its lowest form. Converting a fraction to its lowest form means to convert the fraction to its lowest equivalent. For example four-eighths, two-fourths is the same as half. Thus a fraction can be converted to its lowest form by dividing both the numerator and denominator with their highest common factor. The resultant fraction is the final answer.

There are many methods to find out the slope of a given line but it depends on the type of the data given to us.
When the equation of the straight line is given:
Step # 1: The equation of a straight is generally given in the format of ax+by=c. Let’s take an example, say the equation of straight line is given as 5x-3y= -2.
Step # 2: Now bring the equation to the standard form of y=mx+c. Here ‘m’ is the slope of the given line and ‘c’ is y-intercept of the line. Y-intercept of a line can be defined as the point on the y-axis through which the line passes. The above equation 5x-3y= -2 is now to be converted to the standard y=mx+c form.

? 3y=5x+2
? Y=(5/3)x + 2/3
Therefore from the given equation we can deduce that the slope of the given straight line is 5/3 or 1.67.
When the starting point and the ending point of the line is given
Step # 1: When the two end points are given then the slope of the straight is the change of y-axis with respect to the change in x-axis.
Step # 2: Note starting points and ending points in the Cartesian form as (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) respectively. Let’s take an example, say the starting point of the line is (2, 3) and the ending point is (6, 11).
Step # 3: The change in y-axis is found out as y2 – y1. In this case it comes out as 8.
Step # 4: The change in x-axis is found out as x2 – x1. In this case it comes out as 4.
Step # 5: Finally the slope of the line is found out by dividing the change in y-axis with the change in x-axis. In this case it comes out as 2. Therefore the slope of the line in the given case is 2.
When the angle of the line with respect to horizontal is given
Step # 1: The slope of line is the cosine of the angle that the line makes with the horizontal.
Step # 2: Let’s take an example; say the line makes an angle of 60 degree with the horizontal. Then the slope of the given straight line is cosine of 60 degree which comes out to be half. Therefore the slope of the line is half or 0.5.
