However, when it comes to one of the most coveted jobs in the world, many people become too serious about the interview and lack the right way of preparing for the interview. Appearing a Google interview is not only about getting armed with adequate knowledge of the subject matter, but also getting ready with a mental set up to appear for the interview. Here are some tips on how to prepare for a Google Interview.

Cracking the success code to Google interview requires not only talent but also a fair amount of networking references. Google receives about one million resumes for their openings and they are much likely to hire only 5000 people. So, it is only about .5% odds. However, Google gives a lot of emphasis on hiring people though internal references and in fact, value them well. Hence, if you want to make it to Google, try being referred by a Googler and your chances are pretty high.

Don’t Make Google Your First Interview
Google is not just another company – they look for people with great experience and creative abilities. Hence, if you are not prepared, experienced or confident enough to face them, you are not much likely to crack it. Often, this happens with applicants that don’t have much experience in appearing at interviews. Google interview is not cakewalk – so you have to know to talk, your career goals and most importantly, how to hand yourself during the interview.

Know Your Fundamentals Well Enough
At Google Interview, they want to tell you that algorithms and data structures are the bread and butter for them. Naturally, they are interested to know how good you are at them. Hence, your primary test will focus on solving algorithms and data structures. Rely on your old text books and AP computer science books to brush off your fundamentals. Questions in Google Interview are often on the trickier side. Hence, your preparation should be really solid.

Intelligent Dialogue
At Google Interview, they want to know your skills and personality. Even when they a question at you that is about solving a problem, they are more likely to evaluate your thought process, analytical ability and your approach to a problem. Therefore, be open to talk and express yourself as creatively as possible. Moreover, if you are interactive enough, it helps you get through the questions easily and even get help from the interviews at times.

Grueling Test
If you are going to Google Interview, you would like to mentally prepare yourself for a lengthy interview process. In some cases, interviews last for a month! This is supposed to be much more effective than answering hypothetical questions. During a behavioral interview, you will be asked for real-life examples of how you dealt with a particular situation. General answers are not required. Instead, you will have to describe how you handled the project or event and the exact outcome of the procedure. Let us find out how to prepare for a behavioral interview.

1. The first thing you have to do is to find out what qualities the employer is interested in. It pays to take a good look at the job profile. Discuss with the recruiter about the expectations from a candidate. Before you go for the interview, try to learn as much as you can about the company. This will help you to know the qualities that your employer is looking for.
2. Usually, most companies try to gauge your enthusiasm and decision making skills. Your basic knowledge about the work that you have to do and how you communicate with others is also under scrutiny. Other attributes worth analyzing are leadership and team building competencies.
3. Behavioral interview questions are expected to be more probing than the regular ones. Some examples of these questions are:

• Show how you used logic to tackle a difficult situation
• Talk about an example when you achieved something worthwhile
• Give an example of your decision which was not liked by others and how you handled it
• Have you only done what is your duty or have tried to do something beyond that?
• How have you managed to convince your team to do something they weren’t ready for?
• Give an example of your performance under pressure

4. You can use your experience in your past jobs to answer the questions posed to you. Your activities in school and college will also be of great use. You will surely have been involved in many projects which involves dealing with many of your friends. You can think back about how you had handled the situations and answer accordingly.
5. When describing the events talk specifically about what happened and what steps you took to solve it. Talk about your failures and what you learned from it.
6. It pays to prepare for a behavioral interview while still in a job or in school too. Write down about your experiences while dealing with challenging situations which will later help you answer questions for another company.

Companies are becoming very strict nowadays about the employees they keep and how they can adapt and deal with specific situations. If you really want a good job, then you must prepare well for these behavioral interviews.

Learn more about:<ul

By rushing off for an interview without any forethought might leave you disillusioned when you are faced with questions and situations you are least prepared for. A few more of such interviews and you will feel all the more disheartened with yourself. But a little advice about these job interviews will go a long way in helping you get the job you desire.

The first thing you need to do is find out the general questions asked at the interview. You can then practice answering them with poise. You can describe your efficiency in handling some projects. If you can provide real examples of your successful ventures then you can impress the interview panel in a big way.

It is very important to find out all you can about the company you are going to attend the interview in. More often than not, you will be asked about your knowledge about the company. You should be prepared with the proper answer. If possible, learn the interviewer’s name too. There is nothing wrong in enquiring about it beforehand if you don’t know.

Be sure to create a good impression with your clothes and personality. You should be completely and neatly attired according to the company you are giving the interview for. A portfolio is a must along with your complete resume. Have a writing pad handy along with a pen too.

Allow some time to deal with the traffic and unforeseen problems so that you can arrive either early or in time for the interview. It never pays to come late. You can hardly expect to create a good impression if you arrive late at the venue.

Try to summon your confidence so that you can present a calm exterior to the interview panel. Think that you have done all that was possible and so you will be able to face the interview in the proper way. Always look the interviewer in the eye and give him your full attention. If you are relaxed, you can answer the questions quite normally.

While answering the questions, show your knowledge about the company and also how your education and experience can help take the company to greater heights.

Finally, remember to send a thank you note which will remind them of you and they will also be impressed with your sincerity.

If you follow this advice, it may be a lot easier for you to face an interview. It will also help you to be successful in your endeavor and get the job you desire.

Learn more about:
Every now and then we come across such questions that are often asked in an interview. This is because we all in some point of time in our life care to get a good job and plot the professional graph. It is often found that a candidate at times gets nervous without a relevant cause even and in the process loses the job. Facing an interview is not that a tough nut to crack rather than answering the questions incurred by the interviewer. At no point of time a candidate or a job seeker should lose his self confidence and belief. This is because he is not going to confess something but just will be personifying himself before a board of members or a person who puts forward a few queries before offering the job.

There are a few important steps that are mentioned in an effective approach in the following. These are distinctly necessary to pursue before even a candidate starts to answers the interview related questions: -

Decent attire

As soon as you enter the interview hall, the first impression that counts is your sense of clothing. It is normally appreciated to go in formals rather than casuals for an interview. This is because indirectly, it shows the amount of importance you have laid upon the organization or the association for seeking the job. Often formal attire catches the eye of the interviewer with a positive frame of mind which might not come true in a casual dress code.

Clear speech

You should be having a clean appearance rather than a confused one while facing the interview. It is not at all mandatory that you to know all the answers of the queries put forward by the panel of interviewers or experts. But you should at least not repeat the words or the frames while making a reply. You should always avoid stammering if you are a normal speech. Your voice should be clear and audible not that you look nervous in a trembling one.

Self-assurance

This is one of the most necessary factors that a job seeker or a candidate should maintain in him He should never lose confidence while facing an interview. He should have complete faith on himself even if he fails to impress the one who is incurring information from him in the interview. Lack of confidence and self belief often makes a candidate lose his chance f getting the job where he was very much suitable in other credentials. Any questions that come his way should face with a cool head and with patience.

Well prepared

He or she should be well prepared on at least those topics and subjects that are their favorites. They should have an updated knowledge of the current affairs and reply those with no confusion. An effort should be made to answers the entire questions that are related to the subject of their interest. At times they should tackle the questions with their wits and presence of mind even if they do not know the exact details.

These are the necessary factors that if followed can make any job seeker answer the queries put forwarded by the interviewer. But he or she should never lose hope or get nervous during the whole process of the interview session.

Learn more about:<ul

Here normally, the interviewer asks the questions to seek a reply from the interviewee relevant to the questioned asked or incurred. There are as many as six types of basic interviews for a citation. These are –

Personal/ Face-to-face interview

Telephonic/ Video conferencing

Published interview

Instant message/ chat interview

Interview through broadcasting

Interview through e-mail

Amongst the above seven types, personal interviews holds the priority. Commonly it is conducted in either APA (American Psychological Association) or MLA (Modern Language Association).

Following are some important steps to be kept in observation while citing an interview in the APA style: -

In the text format, any information can be cited for the interview purpose. But the subject should be presented as an essay.

The subject’s name should be in the paper for a sentence followed by a phrase. At the end of the sentence, interview date should be made within the parenthesis.

If there is more than one item or information inside the parenthesis, then separate each with a comma. Even the full name of the subject or the candidate should not be written. Only the initial of the first name should be mentioned and all the rest information to be separated by commas. e.g.: (S.Tennyson, Personal interview, 20th February 2009)

Never should you include the reference list with any personal interview but in a text.

Next we mention the steps to be followed in the MLA style of citing an interview: -

Here we need to put the last name of the interviewee in the beginning. Followed by a comma and a blank space the first name should be placed. Add a period after the first name of the interviewee. e.g.: Tennyson, Samuel.

Before the first name of the interviewer, place a keyword like “Interview with”. Last name of the interviewer should come after the first name and ending by placing a period. e.g.: Interview with Robert Wilson.

Name of the TV/Radio or Magazine/Newspaper should also be mentioned as decided for broadcasting or publishing the interview. e.g.: BBC or The Herald.

Place where the interview will be conducted along with date and time should be mentioned. The format dd-mm-yy is usually followed. A comma with a space to be followed after the date and placing a period after the month finally ending with the year. A full stop to be placed after the year is mentioned. e.g.: 20, Feb. 2009.

Lastly, there should be a clear mention of what type of interview to be cited.

These are the two mostly preferred ways of citing a personal (face-to-face) interview. Pursuing these steps one can now easily be able to conduct an interview.
<p

It’s a source of information that provides vital details about your abilities and achievements to the recruiter. If you are hunting for a job make sure you have a well-prepared CV with you. The most vital attribute of a successful CV is that it clearly explains to the reader what all you can do for the company or how you can be an asset to their company. A well-presented resume can help you achieve positive response from the recruiter.

Here are some guidelines that will help you to understand how to make impressive curriculum vitae.

Instructions

Begin with your name and contact details. This is the foremost piece of information that you need to state in your CV. This should include your postal address, phone number and e-mail address. This info is recommended to be stated at the very beginning because if a company needs to communicate with you, they will look out for this information. . If it is somewhere inside the CV it is possible that it will put them off and hence reduce the possibilities of them contacting you.

The next important information that you need to provide is an appealing career summary. This is an important part of your CV that should grab the reader’s attention. He should be tempted to read your details. In this summary you need to include your experience, skills, achievements and abilities to the recruiter. Since your CV is your selling document, as stated earlier, make your selling document really attractive by including points that should convince the reader that you are the most eligible candidate for the vacancy.

There are basically two schools of thoughts regarding the length of the career statement. While some believe that it should be somewhere between 30 to 40 words paragraph, there are others who prefer to cover the info in 4-5 bulleted points. Whatever, you decide to go for, just make sure it is appealing to the reader. Remember that you are not writing a resume for yourself, instead you are writing it for the recruiter. So, as you write your CV, put yourself in the shoes of the reader.

Your educational qualification is another important asset that you must highlight appropriately. This becomes even more important in the recruitment of fresher. If you are a fresh candidate applying for a job, focus your CV on your qualifications and also your achievements during the student life. Present information in reverse chronological order within categories.

Also include in your CV your out-of-work achievements, interests and hobbies. These pieces of information will reflect your personality and skills.

Other Tips

Make use of short sentences and powerful words that could have positive impact on the reader.

Use the same tense through out the CV.

Be sure to check your grammar, spelling, formatting, etc.

Watch a video instruction on how to make a cv

It is difficult to imagine today that it was only a few years ago that letters had to be written for everything. Applying for a job also entailed writing a letter in the proper format. But with the advent of the Internet, letter-writing has gone for a toss. It is much easier to e-mail whatever you want to say. But even then, it is wise to learn the art of writing a proper job application letter. The procedure may sound antique but it conveys a sense of respect for the person you are writing to. It shows the amount of effort you have put in to convey your thoughts. So let us learn how to write a job application letter.

It is better to say everything clearly and completely. Begin by providing your address and contact information in the form of a letterhead. Then you can write the recipient’s address and contact information also called the inside address. Use caution while addressing the recipient. You can use “Ms” or “Dr” wherever applicable. Use the country’s address format when you are writing to another country. Write the country’s name in capitals in the last line. Remember to write the date and the subject too.

The letter should begin with a greeting. A job application letter should use the recipient’s last name and a colon. If you don’t know the name, then write “To whom it may concern”. Avoid using “Mr” or “Ms” if you don’t know the gender. You can just write the full name itself like “Dear Timothy Dalton:”.

Come directly to the point in the first paragraph itself. Write clearly that you are interested in applying for a post in the organization. The reader should be able to understand what you are trying to say.

The body of the job application letter has to be unique. The length of the letter can stretch to two pages at the maximum but it is better to be as short as possible because no one has the patience to read long letters. You should refrain from rambling. And each paragraph should have a particular topic to write about and should keep the reader involved.

In the last concluding paragraph, you can write about the type of response you are expecting. It may be an e-mail or a letter also.

The level of formality will decide how you should end the letter. It should be aligned on the right side of the letter and should stick to “Regards” or “Respectfully” followed by your name. Your name should then be printed after your signature.

You can write your address on the front of the envelope at the upper left hand corner. The recipient’s address must be typed in the middle of the front of the envelope. Fold your letter so that it fits the envelope properly. Apply the stamps and then seal and send off the letter in the post.

This is how you can write a job application letter in the correct way so that it has the right impression on the recipient.

Watch a video instruction on how to write a job application letter
<p
