1. The first thing you need to do is to design a car game in your mind. Write down all the rules that you want for the game. It is always better to involve as many members as possible so that the rules of the games are clearly defined and known to the persons involved in the making.
2. Once you have decided about the basic rules of the game, proceed to determine the essential parts to make the car. This will further shape up your game design. Decide what all parts 
you want to include to make your car functionally viable for the game. For instance, you can go on to include parts like engine, steering wheels, body, tires, brakes, drive chains and many such parts that you feel is important.
3. Write down all the car parts that you have decided on different index cards. Depending upon how many car parts you have opted for, the number of index cards and hence the number of players will vary. The object of the game will be to gather the index cards with all the essential car parts to build your car.
4. Now prepare the final rules for your games. There will be several aspects that you will need to consider. For instance, you will have to decide about:
• Maximum as well as minimum number of players
• Shuffling rules
• Number of index cards to be distributed to each player
• Turns of each player for laying cards down in the discard pile and then picking up of cards and several other rules that will make the game interesting and thrilling
5. If you want you can also go on to include a trade feature to your game. This feature will add an interesting twist to your car game. According to this added feature every player will be allowed to have the option of selecting a card from other players hand and giving him a card in trade. It could be made more enjoyable if you randomly place cards with colored backs so that players try hard to match a color to a needed card.
6. The winner will be decided according to the cards each player will be holding at the end of the game. The player who will collect all the required cards first can be declared as the winner.
